A stochastic reward net model for performance analysis of prioritized DQDB MAN

چکیده
The performance of prioritized DQDB MAN under bursty traac environment is studied in this paper. The tagged node model is adopted to simplify the analysis. The processes of the packet arrivals to the tagged node, the empty-slot pattern from upstream, and the request pattern from downstream are assumed to be Markov Modulated Poisson Processes, a more general and appropriate model to capture the bursty characteristics existing in the traac ows in high-speed networks. A stochastic reward nets model for the prioritized DQDB MAN is presented. With the help of the Stochas-tic Petri Net Package (SPNP) developed in Duke University, the steady state and as well as the transient behavior of packet loss ratio of tagged node are investigated. The innuence of the burstiness of the empty-slot pattern, packet arrival and request pattern on the tagged node's performance are examined.

Mapping Activity Diagram to Petri Net: Application of Markov Theory for Analyzing Non-Functional Parameters
The quality of an architectural design of a software system has a great influence on achieving non-functional requirements of a system. A regular software development project is often influenced by non-functional factors such as the customers' expectations about the performance and reliability of the software as well as the reduction of underlying risks. The evaluation of non-functional paramet...
متن کاملModeling and Performance Evaluation of Energy Consumption in S-MAC Protocol Using Generalized Stochastic Petri Nets
One of the features of wireless sensor networks is that the nodes in this network have limited power sources. Therefore, assessment of energy consumption in these networks is very important. What has been common practice has been the use of traditional simulators to evaluate the energy consumption of the nodes in these networks. Simulators often have problems such as fluctuating output values i...
متن کاملFormal approach on modeling and predicting of software system security: Stochastic petri net
To evaluate and predict component-based software security, a two-dimensional model of software security is proposed by Stochastic Petri Net in this paper. In this approach, the software security is modeled by graphical presentation ability of Petri nets, and the quantitative prediction is provided by the evaluation capability of Stochastic Petri Net and the computing power of Markov chain. Each...
متن کاملA Stochastic Model for Prioritized Outpatient Scheduling in a Radiology Center
This paper discussed the scheduling problem of outpatients in a radiology center with an emphasis on priority. To more compatibility to real-world conditions, we assume that the elapsed times in different stages to be uncertain that follow from the specific distribution function. The objective is to minimize outpatients’ total spent time in a radiology center. The problem is formulated as a fle...

IOANNIS STAVRAKAKIS and RANDALL LANDRY University of Vermont CS/EE Dept., Burlington, Vermont 05405 U.S.A. ABSTRACT In this paper a queueing model is developed for the delay analysis of a DQDB station. This model is based on some of the ideas originally presented in [1] and [2] and is analyzed by incorporating the queueing analysis developed in [3]. Delay results are obtained for a tra c load o...
